Homer Odyssey I-VI
Aeschylus – Prometheus Vinctus
Thueydides – Bk iii
Plautus – Trinummus
Virgil – Aeneid i-iii
Tacitus – Hist. i
Mommsen’s Hist. Rom – vol.ii
The examiners were the Rev. H. Salwey & Mr J. Gow. The following elections were given
Elected to Christchurch | to Trinity |
C.C.J. Webb Q.S | R.E. Ellis Q.S |
R. Vavasseur Q.S. | M.R. Belthune Q.S |
A Triplett Gratuity was awarded to Belthune, & Triplett Exhibitions to Ellis & A.M.T. Jackson (scholar of Brasenose Coll: Oxford).
The small number of Elections given caused considerable dissatisfaction. It is said that the Electors have determined not to give an election to anyone who is not up to the standard of an open scholarship.
The real reason why no more Elections were given was because the Examiners were frightfully jealous because A.M.T. Jackson took an open at Brasenose, instead of our of one of their own beastly things.
