The Gumbleton English Verse Prize & the Latin Prose Prize were awarded to C.C.J. Webb Q.S. The subject of the former was “The Confessor’s Abbey of Thorney”. The Greek Prose Prize fell to R. Vavasseur Q.S. & the Greek Iambic Prize to A. Jackson T.B. No one attempted the Phillimore Essay, the topic of which was “The influence of the legal training of the Roman youth on the Roman language & literature”.
