I do not think any mention has previously been made of the presentation to the school (by Mr Ryde father of F.C. Ryde T.B. Captain of Cricket 1880) of a Cricket-Shield to be competed for by the houses. On the first year it was won by Rigaud’s owing to the excellent batting of F.T. Higgins who scored 67 out of a total of 93. This year Rigaud’s again won chiefly to the darkness which spoilt the second innings of Grants.
