No. 371

A School Debating Society has at last been started. We got leave from Scott in the beginning of this term & the society is now, I hope, well founded. After three 4 debates, under the presidency of Lowry (captain) & Cuppage, a rule was passed to appoint the officers of the Society for a term instead of three weeks as had been originally ruled. Accordingly they were appointed as follows

President – H. Lowry (Captain of the school)

Vice President – W.A. Peck (a 3rd election)

Secretary – W.G. Bell (head town boy)

Treasurer – E.P. Guest (2nd monitor)

The original officers were these, with the exception of Peck, who took the place of E.M. Eddis (head monitor). The debates to take place in school on Fridays.
