H.R.H. Prince Albert came down to the Abbey on the 6th of May. The masters and boys received him as he came out, forming a line from Jerusalem Chamber to his carriage at the archway. J.A. Whitaker Prin. Opp.

At the “chairing” of the Head M.C. or liberty boy, there was a strong wish on the part of some to cut Weare, to show that they did not approve of this his conduct; it was attempted but through the better feelings of others was prevented. J.A. Whitaker Prin. Opp.

Today being the 17th of March, St Patrick’s Day, we had an early Play; the Eight had leave on the water till 5 o’clock (the regular water order was not out). They went on in their new boat for the first time. J.A. Whitaker Prin. Opp.

The Eunuchus (which was the play fixed for last year, but not acted *) was repeated this year acted with great spirit, some of the performers playing their parts in first rate style. H.R.H. Prince Albert was present on the 3rd night & expressed himself much pleased. I am happy to say that this year…
