The Revnd H G Liddell having been appointed Head Master was introduced to us by the Dean up school in a lengthy speech in which Liddells merits were set forth. He is a man well known in the literary world having compiled a large & valuable Gk Lexicon, he was a student of Ch Ch Oxford, Proctor of that University & a White-hall preacher, he married a few weeks before he entered in his duties here.

(Though perhaps not a proper place for the mention of such a thing I add here that there was such a great resemblance in height & appearance to the late Head Master that it could not be but remarked.)
