No. 275

The Commemoration service took place on Nov 17th & was greatly approved by the omission of the sermon. As usual the School Choir were completely put out by the Abbey Choir. Dr Bridge played for the latter, with the inevitable result that the Psalms dragged fearfully. I am quite sure we should get on much better by ourselves. Mr Ronalow had taken a great deal of trouble with the school contingent & it was a great disappointment to him & all of us to find our efforts wasted. Besides it is essentially a school service and I really don’t see what the Abbey Choir have to do with it; or why the canons & minor canons should consider themselves entitled to reserve their seats.
