No. 142

During the Exeat “Library” was somewhat altered. Doves were put up at the foot of the staircase in Ashburnham house. The old masters’ Common Room was fitted up with cases to hold the school Collection of Coins, this room has been added to the Library. The present buteroom is to be made into a chess room. Some alterations with regard to the management of Library also came in force after the Exeat. New rules have have been drawn up, and a monitor has to take charge of Library for a certain number of days each week. It was at first intended that some each member of the “Town Council” should undertake the duty in rotation, but as some members of that body were palpably inefficient it was thought best to limit the duty to seniors and Heads of Houses.
