New Fives courts have been opened this term, thanks chiefly to the kindness of Walter Phillimore. The following rules have made by the Games committee.
- No person shall play on the Fives courts without rubber soled shoes.
- The only game to be played on the courts is Fives & no racquets are to be used.
- The court nearest H. B. B. will be called no. 1 & the other no. 2.
- No. 1 will be reserved for Grants & Home Boarders on alternate days as follows.
H. B. B. — Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
Grants — Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays
No. 2 will be reserved to College & Rigauds on alternate days as follows:
Rigauds — Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
College —Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays
5. The courts will change hands alternately i.e. no. 1 will change hands every term i.e. next term will be no. 1 will be reserved for College & Rigauds alternately; & no. 2 for Grants & Rigauds H. B. B. Alternately.
6. If a “reserved” court is unoccupied fellows belonging to other houses may use it, but they must give it up when required to do so.
7. The heads of Houses will make all other rules needed for their own Houses.
In accordance with rule 7 the following rules have been made by Probyn for Rigauds. The rules of the other Houses are very nearly the same.
- All general rules made by the Games committee must be observed.
- There must be no humbugging on the courts. The game & nothing else must be played.
- Four can turn off two provided the pair are not in the VIth of shell.
- “Pinks” can always turn off.
- Any infraction of these rules is a monitorial offence & punishable by tanning.
