No. 22

On Friday May 5th the concert was held in College Hall. The programme was divided into two parts; the first part consisted of sacred music, the second of secular.

“God is love” a sacred cantata by Mrs Joseph Robinson was first sung; the solos were taken by W.V. Doherty. T.B.  E.N. Sharpe. T.B. H.G Clarke Q.B. R.E. Olivier Q.S. J. Watt Q.S. & E. Bray Esq.

It is to be noticed that in the second part Mr Gumbleton sang an original French song by C. Erskine T.B.

The performance was concluded by the cantata ‘Richard Coeur de Lion’.

This concert was decidedly the most successful we have had; a result which was largely owing to the possession of an orchestra for the first time.
