The play this year was the Andria of Terence which was performed on the 9th, 14th and 16th of December before crowded audiences. On the second night Sir Robert Phillimore took the chair supported by the Lord Chancellor & the Master of the Rolls. Sir Farrer Herschell [Herschel] (Solicitor General) and Justices Lindley and Field were also present. On the second [third] night the Dean took the chair according to custom. Mr Childers the Secretary for War and Mr Lowell American Minister (the Author of the celebrated Biglow Papers) were among his supporters. The Epilogue which represented an Election Commission was well received. The cast was as follows-
