No. 2. Half mile with Hurdles at the end – Open – Challenge cup. 1. Forster. 2. Bury. 3. Stephenson. Time 2. 28 1/2 . A good race, won by a foot.

No. 3. Long Jump – under 15. 1. Armitage. 2. Sutherland. Distance 13ft 5in.

No. 4. 150 yds – under 13. 1. Phillimore. 2. Jervis. 3. Ritchie. Time 20 7/8 secs.

No. 5. Final Heat of Hurdle Race. (vid supra).

No. 6. 440 yds. – under 15. – Challenge Cup. 1. Sutherland. 2. Thorne. 3. Ritchie. Time 65 (W.O.)

No. 7. Flat Race. – 100 yds. – Open – Challenge Cup. 1. Squire. 2. Jeffcock. 3. Eden. Time 10 7/8 secs. This was a most splendid Race – First resulted in a dead heat between Squire & Jeffcock. When it was run off, Jeffcock got the best start, but Squire picked him up all

Second day.

the way, and finally won by a foot.

No. 8. Pole Jump. – open – 1. Brandan. 2. Coke. Height 8ft 6 ½ in.

No. 9. Hurdle Race – 100 yds – 8 flights – under 15. 1. Sutherland. 2. Armitage. 3. Winstanley.

No. 10. 440 yds. – open – Challenge Cup. Time 59 ½ secs. 1. Jeffcock. 2. Eden. 3. Forster. This race was a walk over for Jeffcock who won as he liked by about 30 yds. Squire who could not enter as being the winner of the 100 yds, beat this time when running the first quarter of the mile by ¼ sec.

No. 11. Old Westminsters’ Race. 1. Leggatt. 2. Beverley.

No. 12. Two Mile Handicap – Bicycle Race. Time 9 min. 41 sec. 1. Bird (Scratch). 2. Brandon (ditto). (3. Forster (20 yds). Bird who had the lead from all the field, rode hard from start to finish, and won finally by 100 yds.

No. 13. Consolation Race. 300 yds. – Winners excluded. 1. Bain. 2. Frere. 3. Morison. Time 37 1/2.

No. 14. Tug of War. Twelve Q.S.S. v. twelve T.B.B. The T.B.B. won easily pulling over their antagonists twice in succession. – This has now been started 3 years, and the T.B.B. have invariably won.

N.B. It will be seen from the above account that the Bicycle race which was dropped last year, was revised in this year’s programme. The half-mile Handicap however was retained.
