A very good race took place near the end of the half between two fours, made out of fellows in the eight. It was to have been stroke against bow but two oars being kept off the water the boat were made up otherwise. They were as follows

Stroke
1. Wright T.B.
2. Macready T.B.
3. Mure T.B.
4. Barnes Q.S.
Cox Green Q.S.

Bow
1. Horne Q.S.
2. Williams Q.S.
3. Cook Q.S.
4. Eminson QS
Cox Twiss QS

The boats (fs. Noultons) were outriggers. The race from Vauxhall Bridge to Hungerford. Bow took the lead at first, but were hard pressed in a short time by Stroke, who at length passed them opposite the houses, and upon reaching Westminster Bridge were half a boats length ahead in coming through the bridge Twiss (Bows cox) made a curve & lost ground greatly, and being passed unable to gain it again. The stroke boat passed under Hungerford Bridge four boats lengths ahead of the Bow.
