Charterhouse match was played at Godalming June 8 and 9. We were badly beaten by an innings and 147 runs.
Fane played a splendid innings of 95 for them with a chance and had hard luck in not reaching his century.
Garrett was however missed at cover-point by Garrett both simple catches and one a rather difficult catch to Fox Wallace was also missed in the deep field. Apart from these mistakes the fielding was good, better than Charterhouse. While Fisher bowled very well, the long spell of fielding no doubt interfered with our batting on the first innings but no sufficient excuse can be offered for the miserable display we made.
The second innings was more lamentable as the rain came down in the night and made the wicket very tricky. Severn, J F More, R E More and Beasley all tried pluckily to pull the game out of the fire but were only indifferently backed up. Score and analysis
