The charterhouse match was played up fields June 23 + 24 & resulted in a victory for charterhouse by 105 runs. It had been raining heavily the night before the first day & the first innings of both sides was very small. In the second innings of charterhouse a good stand was made. By Fane and Crabtree. The only respectable show Westminster made was a not very long stand by Fisher and Severn. Why the Westminster bowlers were not hard by ever changed it is hard to say; the features of the defeat was largely owing to the fear of the captain.
