No. 271

The Ashburnham house has been now separated from HBB for the purpose of games. This change was asked for by HBB themselves as likely to result in the improvement of the games both of HBB & the school in general: as ashburnham house as hitherto constituted would be too weak to meet the other houses all new boys who would have under ordinary circumstances gone up HBB have been sent up ashburnham & in all probability the same will be done next term , so that the house which now numbers thirty eight will then probably reach fifty. The premises have been enlarged by taking away the old shop & gateway & making a new shop & passage through where Tysons room used to be. The old staircase in to library is now unused & the only entrance is that on the stone stair case in ashburnham house.
