Early in February the Head Master was suddenly taken very ill with a clot of blood in the right arm & was out of school for the remainder of the term. H. Morgan Brown Q.S , obtained the Gumbleton prize, the subject being ‘The Athemian Expedition to Syracuse’ The Ireland Latin prose prize was awarded to B. M. Goldie Q.S. a piece of more’s utopia being set. C.A. Sherring Q.S. won the Ireland Greek Verse prize. A collection was made on the festival of the conversion of St Paul which amounted to £21. 9 s. 0d. The Queen went in prosecution to open parliament on the 21st January.
