Two of the masters Rev. Weare and Bonney the mathematician master left at the end of the Midsummer term and were presented with each a testimonial by the T.B. Weare with a coffee service, and Bonney with a silver inkstand. Rev. W. Ingram O.W. has taken Weare’s place as second master and a Mr Scriven.…
The Eton and Westminster on August 3rd was won by the former by about 8 lengths owing to the want of length in the WW. The style of rowing in the school has very much improved lately a good deal owing to Forster’s good example. For particulars see Water Ledger. J. L. Swale Prin. Opp.

Scott told us that for the future (dating from Whitsuntide 1861) early plays would be done away with and that as a compensation for it, the half past seven school during the summer half year would be done away with. It is only an exchange for the worse during the summer half year on account…
