I am glad to say that football has met with many supporters this half. A match was played between TBs & QSS wh terminated in favour of the latter by three games, rather contrary to expectations. Several Cricket matches have been played at Fields during the last & present month (June & July /51) viz with Charter-House, Master’s Eleven, & Marylebone in the latter of wh we beat to everyone’s astonishment. Vid. Cricket Ledger J Murray Prin. Opp.
This month (July 51/) a race was got up in outrigger pair oars for jests. The first boat having a quart & the 2nd two pint pewter pots. It was won after a beautiful race by Wright & Berens; Vincent & Hunt being second. The race was from Putney Br. to Battersea. For particulars vid.…
