Bury\u2019s crew ____________ 0<\/p>\n<p>Squire\u2019s boat went off with the lead which it held till the point where Coke headed him and won by 2 lengths the rest finishing in the order given above. (stroke)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">R.M. de Carteret (cox)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>July 9<sup>th<\/sup> T.B Rudder<\/p>\n<p>Centre station \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 W.M. Meredith, R. Berens (stroke), G.G. Phillimore (cox)\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a01<\/p>\n<p>Middlesex station\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 R. Beames, C.B. Crews (stroke), J.E.R. Wimbush\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 2<\/p>\n<p>Three other boats stroked by E.C. Frere, T. Morison and A.C.W. Jenner also started. Berens won by a length and a half.<\/p>\n<p>The Senior Sculls were won by E.T.H. Brandon Q.S.<\/p>\n<p>The Junior Sculls by E.C. Frere T.B.<\/p>\n<p>The Leander Race was rowed on July 16<sup>th<\/sup> and resulted in a crushing defeat for the school. Coke, determined to signalize his captaincy in the only way he could think of, had made up his mind not to fill up the Eight; this determination naturally disgusted those fellows who had been \u2018wiring up\u2019 for their pinks and one of them (E. Poland T.B) who would have had to suffer considerable personal inconvenience in order to row wrote to Coke declining to row unless the Eight were filled up. This the latter refused to do and so Poland did not row. Squire also could not and Morison could not row \u2013 In consequence of these defections the Eight had only been out twice before the race and as the Leander had practised diligently the \u2018pink\u2019 of Westminster was left hopelessly in the rear. Our defeat however would not have been by so much as it was (namely three lengths) had Brandon made any real spurt. Our crew was made up as follows \u2013<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">H.W.
